THE NUMBER ONE FENG SHUI SCHOOL FOR SUCCESSFUL FENG SHUI CONSULTANTS |
Career Development Loans |
|
The Alan Stirling Feng Shui School of Excellence is an approved training provider to the UK Governments Department of Education and Skills. We can help you to get a subsidised training loan to allow you to attend our Feng Shui courses. Please read the following details and you can then fill in the online application. Please also register with us by e-mail in order that we can track your application and provisionally book you on our feng shui course. Career Development Loans (CDLs) are deferred repayment bank loans which the Department for Education and Skills operates in partnership with four high street banks (Barclays, Clydesdale, Co-Operative, Royal Bank of Scotland). Their aims are to increase the amount of vocational education and learning, encourage more individuals to take responsibility for their own learning, and encourage financial institutions to view learning as an investment worthy of a loan. |
|
Loan amounts |
Individuals can borrow between £300 and £8,000 to pay for vocational courses lasting up to two years, plus, if relevant, up to one year's practical work experience where it forms part of the course. Applicants must be aged 18 or over and either live or intend to train in Great Britain and to use the learning to work in the UK, European Union or the European Economic Area. |
Funding |
Loans can cover up to 80 per cent of course fees (up to 100 per cent for people who have been out of work for three months or longer), plus the full cost of books, materials and other related expenses including travel and childcare. Living expenses can also be considered for full-time courses. Department for Education and Skills pays the interest on the loan for the period of the course covered by the CDL and for up to one month afterwards. Applicants who are unemployed or in receipt of certain state benefits on completion of their course may apply to have the repayment period deferred by up to a maximum of 17 months. The Department for Education and Skills involvement helps remove many of the concerns that banks may have about giving loans for training in general, and specifically to the unemployed and low-earners. However, as CDLs are offered by commercial banks, they may not be suitable for everyone as the lending decision is based on, amongst other criteria, the individual's credit rating. |
Targeting |
The Department for Education and Skills is working with new partners to help target Government assistance to low skilled, low earners or socially or financially disadvantaged. Learning loan pilots started with Leeds City Credit Union on 18 September 2000 and with Southwark Credit Union on 12 March 2001. |
